Winter care for lithium batteries

WINTER CARE FOR LITHIUM BATTERIES

The most important recommendations at a glance

During the winter months, it is important to take extra care of your lithium batteries to ensure they perform to their full potential when needed. Regardless of whether your electric carts are out of service in winter or are simply used less frequently, here are some tips on how to extend the service life of your lithium battery:

  • If your battery will not be used for a long period of time, you should fully charge it before storing it. Disconnect the battery completely from all chargers and recharge it before the next use.
  • Never leave a battery connected to a charger overnight or unattended for a long period of time.
  • Lithium batteries should be stored on a dry, uncarpeted surface.
  • Lithium batteries should be stored above 10°C.
  • Lithium batteries should not be stored for longer than 2 months without being topped up.
  • If you have a fleet of trolleys, you should ensure that the batteries are used alternately so that not just a few batteries are used.
  • Never charge lithium batteries for longer than necessary.
